Rider Terms

These Rider Terms apply when you book trips as a passenger on MOTO RIDES. They supplement our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Rider eligibility

  • You must be 18+ and legally able to use ride-hailing services.
  • You are responsible for accurate pickup and destination details.

2. Paying for rides

Ride payments are processed exclusively via M-Pesa (STK push). Wallet is used only for top-ups (including saving funds in your wallet balance) and withdrawals—not for paying ride fares.

  • All ride payments must be processed through the in-app M-Pesa system. Approve the Safaricom STK prompt on the phone number you provide in the payment screen.
  • Wallet balance cannot be used to pay ride fares.
  • Cash is not accepted for rides booked through the app.

3. Booking & conduct

  • Be ready at the pickup point when the driver arrives.
  • Verify driver and vehicle details shown in the app before entering the vehicle.
  • Wear a helmet on motorcycles where required by law.
  • Treat drivers with respect; no harassment, illegal items, or damage to vehicles.

4. Cancellations & no-shows

  • You may cancel according to in-app rules; fees may apply after the free cancellation window.
  • Repeated cancellations or no-shows may lead to fines or account restrictions.

5. Location & tracking

Location data is collected during active rides and driver availability (on the driver side) to enable navigation, matching, and safety features.

  • You may save favourite locations; you can delete them in the app.

6. Safety & emergencies

  • Use in-app emergency and support features for serious incidents.
  • Emergency contacts you add may receive email alerts with trip context when you use profile emergency broadcast (as described in-app).

7. Ratings & disputes

  • You may rate drivers after trips; ratings must be honest.
  • Report issues via support with trip details; false reports may lead to account action.

8. Account action

We may suspend rider access for violations of these Terms, unpaid fines, or safety concerns.
