These Driver Terms apply when you offer transportation services through MOTO RIDES as an independent driver-partner. They supplement our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
1. Independent contractor
You are an independent contractor, not an employee of MOTO RIDES. You control when you go online, subject to platform rules and applicable law.
2. Eligibility & verification
- Minimum age, licensing, and experience requirements as stated in registration.
- Valid Kenyan driver’s licence, vehicle registration, and insurance as required for your vehicle class.
- Accurate profile, photos, and documents; falsified information leads to rejection or termination.
- Background and document review may take 24–48 hours or longer.
3. Vehicle & insurance
You are solely responsible for vehicle roadworthiness, maintenance, and lawful operation. MOTO RIDES does not provide insurance for your trips.
4. Payments & earnings
Ride payments are processed exclusively via M-Pesa (STK push). Wallet is used only for top-ups (including saving funds in your wallet balance) and withdrawals—not for paying ride fares.
- Completed ride fare split: 82% credited to your earnings ledger; 18% platform commission.
- Riders pay ride fares exclusively through in-app M-Pesa. You must not demand cash for app-booked rides.
- Earnings appear in your in-app wallet/ledger after settlement; withdrawals to M-Pesa follow in-app withdrawal rules and may require a transaction PIN.
- Wallet is for storing earnings, top-up where offered, and withdrawal—not for collecting ride fares outside the in-app M-Pesa flow.
5. Accepting & completing trips
- Accept trips only when you can complete them safely and promptly.
- Follow the route and pickup/destination shown unless the rider agrees to a safe change.
- Mark trip stages accurately in the app.
- All ride payments must be processed through the in-app M-Pesa system—do not request alternate payment methods for app-booked fares.
6. Cancellations & availability
- Keep cancellation rates within platform limits; abuse may reduce offers or trigger penalties.
- Location data is collected during active rides and while you are available online to enable navigation, matching, and safety features.
7. Conduct & safety
- No discrimination, harassment, intoxicated driving, or violence.
- Comply with traffic laws; require passengers to use helmets on motorcycles where required.
- Report emergencies and serious incidents through in-app tools.
8. Platform rights
- We may deactivate or suspend access for safety, fraud, poor ratings, or Terms violations.
- We may adjust features, service areas, or fees with notice where required.
9. Taxes
You are responsible for your own tax and regulatory obligations as an independent operator.
